Bra used to hide drugs in club
A PROSERPINE woman received a suspended sentence after being caught with dangerous drugs hidden in her bra in an Airlie Beach nightclub.
On Monday, Proserpine Magistrate Court heard at 4.40am on December 26, police were told by security at Mama Africa that a woman inside the club was selling dangerous drugs.
Civilian lawyer prosecutor Chris Bennett said security pointed the woman out to police after they entered the club. Sereena Rie McGrady, 32, was escorted outside and asked if she had anything to declare prior to a search.
McGrady, who pleaded guilty, told police she had something hidden in her bra.
After a pat down search, police located a small bag of methamphetamine.
McGrady's phone revealed a conversation between the woman and a man, which police believed was related to supplying drugs.
McGrady denied selling drugs but admitted to being a part of "setting up a transaction which never eventuated".
Duty lawyer Rosemary Varley said McGrady claimed the drugs found were for personal use only.
Due to McGrady holding a high SPER debt of $2700 and refusing a community based sentence, Magistrate Young sentenced McGrady to one month imprisonment wholly suspended for six months.
