Brahmans out of finals
MACKAY Brothers belted the Proserpine Brahmans 46-6 in Mackay on Sunday to knock them out of the finals race.
Needing a win to keep their premiership hopes alive the Brahmans were found wanting in the elimination final as the Mackay side ran in nine tries to one at the Mackay junior rugby league grounds.
Brothers fired on all cylinders in the big win, ending the Brahmans 2013 season, which started out promisingly and saw the team finish third on the ladder.
The Brahmans improved out of sight in 2013 but were unable to finish the year strongly and recapture their early season form.
Ex-super league player Anthony Blackwood did a great job leading the team around in his first year at the club and officials will be hopeful of securing his services for the 2014 season.
After going down 36-14 against Wests in Sunday's qualifying final in Mackay the Brahmans under-18s need to win this weekend to keep their finals chance alive.
Wests weren't troubled in the seven tries to three win and move directly into the grand final in two weeks time.
This weekend the Brahmans take on Mackay Brothers for a spot in the grand final and they will need to be on top of their game to secure a rematch with Wests.
