Brahmans record best win

RUGBY LEAGUE: It was their best performance of the year but the Brahmans are hoping last Sunday's 48-point win is a sign of things to come.

Whitsunday battered Brothers at Les Stagg Oval, running out 48-0 winners in what coach James Webb described as the team's most complete outing.

"It was a turning point for us, it was a game that we've been looking for," he said.

"Brothers have put points on every team they've played and we wanted a game where we came up against a side like that and kept them to zero. For a lot of the game, we stuck to our structure and it worked. We went away from things a bit in the second half but it's hard to stick to structures when blokes are making breaks on second tackle."

Former Cutter Rohan Ahern starred alongside Grant Cooke, using their physicality to stretch Brothers while Sam Key and Callum Wilkinson were also lively.

This weekend, the Brahmans will play last year's premiers Souths Sharks in Mackay.

"We'll have a few players out this weekend but we've got enough depth there. We've just got to cover the losses," Webb said.

"At the moment we're working on our depth in attack. We're trying to get Ramo (Phil Ramage) a bit more time and our outside backs a bit more time.

"Our defence is the best in the comp and we just need to work on our goal-line attack. Once that's right, we're hard to stop."

Whitsunday sits in fourth on the Auscoal Super A-grade ladder but has the best points against total in the competition (152).

The next best defence in the competition is Souths (188 points against).
