Brahmans show piercing dominance

Rugby League: With a dominating streak from start to finish, the Whitsunday Brahmans have put themselves within reach of the premiership.

Souths Sharks were defeated 36-14 today at the Mackay Junior Rugby League Grounds.

Ivan Petelo had a Man of the Match game with his front row performance unlocking the Brahmans ability to make strong and "piercing” runs.

Rainer Power also impressed with three tries.

Whitsunday Brahmans manager Bryce Fraser said the side had played a consistently strong game which put them in good shape for the finals.

"Captain Phil Ramage asked the boys to get out there and impose themselves on the other team and muscle up and get on the front foot straight away,” he said.

"We were the first to score on the back of opening dominance.”

This forceful approach is exactly what the Brahmans intend to repeat for next weeks game against Minor premier Wests Tigers.

The winner of this semi-final will go on to the grand final.

The Reserve Brahmans team also walked away with a "nailbiting” victory against Brothers with a final score 17-16.

Scott Evans scored the crucial goal kick in the final minute of the game to ensure victory and keep final hopes alive.
