Brahmans topple Magpies
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Whitsunday Brahmans ran all over Magpies on the weekend with all three teams coming up with the goods.
The A-grade side weren't to be denied from the gate, notching up 18 points to the Magpies' four at half-time.
Their intensity never faltered, crashing through the Magpies' line to come home 30-10.
Coach James Webb said it had been a physical game.
"The Magpies have a very big forward pack and they tried to dominate the middle," he said.
"We more than matched them and I thought we won the battle in the middle, that's for sure."
Hooker Jhy Cockburn was named best on field for the home side.
"He's getting the forward pack on the front foot and he's giving good service out of hooker," Webb said.
In the backs it was Darcy Wright and Jack Briscoe named as top contributors.
The team has a break this week before travelling south to take on the top-of-the-ladder Sarina.
Webb said the team would be looking to hit them hard and fast.
"Defensively we're good, we know that, but it will just be about trying to put some more points on them," he said. The reserves were equally impressive as they came home to a 20-12 win, while the under-18s dominated their opponents 28-10.
