UPDATE: Police make call on 'shots fired' report

UPDATE: 6pm   POLICE swarmed a quiet street in Point Vernon on Sunday after reports of shots fired.   The Chronicle understands neighbours called triple-0 about 11am after hearing loud bangs and witnessing a disturbance at the Wattle St home.    When they arrived, car and house windows had shattered but no-one appeared to be injured.    Detectives and forensic specialists quickly joined the crews on scene but found no evidence of a gun having been fired.  Instead, police now believe another weapon, possibly a metal pole, was used to break the windows.    A police spokeswoman said the offence was listed as wilful damage for the time being but investigations into what led to the disturbance and who was involved were continuing.

Anyone with information can phone 131 444.
