Broncos reach to the fans
THE Broncos sent some big names out to Gladstone for a membership dinner at Harvey Rd Tavern last night in an effort to reach out to their regional fan base.
Broncos chief executive Paul White, coach Anthony Griffin, player Ben Hunt and legends Andrew Gee and Shane Webcke were there.
But it was not their first trip to Gladstone. Each one has ties to Central Queensland in some form.
Griffin and White even played - and in Griffin's case also coached - on Marley Brown Oval. White said the Broncos had a lot of support in the region.
"The event sold out in two days," he said.
And all for a good cause. White said proceeds from the night would go towards local junior rugby league.
Griffin said he was passionate about reaching out to Queensland country.
"Hopefully there is some kids in Gladstone that will one day play for the Broncos," Griffin said.
"I always enjoy coming back to Central Queensland.
"It's always home for me."
