Brown snakes escape catcher on busy beachfront

"WHY is it that when you have a large crowd watching you catch an eastern brown snake it gets out of the bag after you've caught it!"

Snake catcher Richie Gilbert was called to a busy spot on the beach front at Mooloolaba, to relocate the snake, spotted metres from a children's playground.

Mr Gilbert can be seen diving into the bushes on the video of the capture, retreiving the snake and tucking it away inside a bag, to the applause of onlookers.

Moments later the snake had found a way out of the bag and back into the open.

The experienced snake catcher made quick work of retreiving the snake, and made sure very sure it was secure inside the bag.
