Bunyoung grand final bound

FAIRBAIRN Bakery's Chris Bunyoung is off to this year's NRL grand final after winning the Whitsunday Times' footy tipping competition.

Bunyoung finished the season with a total of 117 tips, finishing just one clear of Cavalier Homes' Michael Brady (116).

Brady made a charge for top spot in the final week, correctly picking seven out of eight while Bunyoung managed just four to hang on.

Bunyoung said he didn't have a particular method for his choices, he simply "watched the games each weekend".

The Raiders' supporter had to tip against his team regularly this season, as Canberra finished the season second last.

"That was hard," he said.

"But going against them worked out for me in the end."

This year Bunyoung is backing the North Queensland Cowboys to win the grand final, despite them finishing the season outside the top four.

"I think they've got a good chance," he said.

"They have beaten all the top sides. They beat Souths, Roosters and Manly on the weekend so they are looking good."

Bunyoung is a regular attendee of the NRL grand final and was thrilled to claim this year's prize.

"It's worth while. We usually go to the grand final but this year we weren't going to go so this is a great pick-up," he said.
