Large bush fire at Bloomsbury may impact the Bruce Highway

A SMOKE hazard is soon expected to impact the Bruce Highway south of Proserpine, due to a large grass fire at Bloomsbury.

Rural fire personnel are currently working to contain the blaze, which broke out near Kunapipi Road about 9.10am.

There is no threat to homes at this time but residents are being advised to consider precautionary measures such as moving cars to safe locations and bringing pets inside.

Residents are advised to call triple zero if they believe their property comes under threat.

Motorists on the Bruce Highway are urged to drive to the conditions.
