Bushwalkers found safe

UPDATE: Two Gold Coast women reported missing last night after a bushwalking trip at Binna Burra have been located safe and well.

The women were found about two kilometres into bushland at Lamington National Park at about 10am.

SES personnel are walking the women to safety.

They were reported missing about midnight after they failed to return home.

 

EARLIER: Emergency services are scouring dense rainforest on the Gold Coast where two bushwalkers are missing.

Two women, 21 and 23, went walking in the Lamington National Park at Binna Burra on Wednesday morning but when they failed to return home, one of the women's flatmates called the police.

Police say both women are carrying food, water and wet weather gear.

Police located the car the missing women travelled in to the national park at the Binna Burra Information Centre at 2am on Thursday.

About 11 SES personnel, park rangers and police are involved in a ground search on Thursday morning.
