Camp Quality kids enjoy weekend in Whitsundays
CHILDREN suffering from cancer and their families enjoyed a beautiful weekend in the Whitsundays with Camp Quality, staying at BIG4 Adventure Resort and enjoying many activities in the region.
The Rotary Club of Airlie Beach were keen to lend a helping hand by hosting a delicious barbeque dinner last Saturday night for the 70 visitors from Mackay, Cairns and Mount Isa.
Rotary club member Neil Cawthorne helped organise the Camp Quality visit, which was the first of two annual respite weekends held in the Whitsundays this year.
His wife Narelle Cawthorne also made a beautiful birthday cake as some of the children were celebrating their birthdays over the weekend.
Rotary public relations officer Denise Norder said the evening was a great success.
"It's very rewarding to be able to help Camp Quality children and their families who are suffering from cancer," she said.
Saturday night's barbeque was a great way to see out the weekend, with the kids spending the day enjoying the pool and waterslides at BIG4.
The camp ran all weekend with many families making the most of the warm weather to experience everything the Whitsundays has to offer.
The Rotary Club of Airlie Beach holds the Camp Quality barbeque dinner as a result of funds raised through the Rotary Phone Guide.
