Campaign success

THE first Tourism Queensland campaign promoting the Great Barrier Reef to Americans has been a success, according to Queensland Tourism Minister Peter Lawler.

The campaign joined forces with a US online travel agency,

The result was a 177 per cent lift in room night revenue for accommodation owners in May and June.

Mr Lawlor said the US$100,000 campaign aimed to steer Americans towards choosing a Great Barrier Reef holiday over the more traditional Caribbean, Hawaiian or Mexican island destinations.
