Cannabis and meth a bad mix for 21-year-old

A 21-YEAR-OLD driver has been caught behind the wheel while both cannabis and meth were in his system.

Deng Kuchmol Kon was driving in Zillmere in Brisbane when he was stopped by police on May 21.

The Goodna resident was given a drug test where he recorded a positive result for the cannabis component THC and methamphetamine.

At Ipswich Magistrates Court this week, he pleaded guilty to driving while the drugs were in his system.

Police prosecutor Brad Dick said Kon had told police he had smoked cannabis the day he was pulled over and tested.

In addition to the charge, Kon also pleaded guilty to one count of contravening a police requirement for an unrelated matter.

Defence lawyer Alexis Oxley said Kon had recently become a father which had motivated him to give up drugs.

Kon was fined $500 for both charges and disqualified from driving for a month.
