Cannonvale Cannons fire at championships
SWIMMING: Over 30 Cannonvale Cannons competed at the North Queensland Short Course Championships over the weekend at their home pool.
Head coach Mark Erickson was very impressed by all his swimmers and said the weekend was enjoyable and successful due to the great camaraderie amongst parents, officials and swimmers.
HIghlights from the weekend included Zavier Goswell, Blake Hanks, Mae Carter-Attwood, Evie Herlihy, Mikhaila Flint, Emily Carter-Attwood, Cameron Rusk and Jy Parkinson all achieving personal bests in their events. A special mention also goes to Jy Parkinson who broke three NQ Short Course Records over the weekend.
Erickson said Mitchell Milostic (9), Isabelle Kratz (10) and Ava Grove (9) all swam well in their first club carnival. "They all tried really hard and their times were impressive," he said.
The eight-year-old girls and boys were extremely competitive.
A special mention goes to Zoe Herlihy who achieved huge PBs taking over 20 seconds off in her 100m IM and 50m Butterfly. Jacob Bell (9) achieved fantastic times with his 100m Backstroke (11.82 sec PB) and his 100m IM (6.22 sec PB).

Lilly and "Gus The Bus" Hedges were in an exciting 400m Freestyle race and were challenging each other the whole way. Both really surprised their coach getting under six minutes.
