Cannons fire best efforts
SWIMMING: Over the weekend, three Cannonvale Cannons swimmers competed at the 2016 McDonald's Queensland Short Course Championships held in Brisbane.
There were meant to be four swimmers taking to the water, but at the last minute Chloe Robertson had to pull out.
Coach Mark Erickson accompanied the team and was very impressed by all the swimmers.
He said they represented themselves and their club with pride and were very supportive of each other throughout the contest.
Jacob Dewis, 10, swam extremely well in his four events.
He swam 36.68s in his 50m Fly, placing 13th, which was a 0.3 sec PB.
He swam a 1.14 sec PB in his 50m breaststroke.
His best swim was his 50m freestyle which earnt him third place in 31.01sec.
Evie Herlihy, 10, swam in her first state championships.
She competed in the 50m freestyle and recorded a great time of 35.82sec.
Jy Parkinson, also 10, was awarded three final ribbons for achieving top 10 placings over the weekend.
Jy swam PBs for all his events.
He swam his 100m individual medley in 1.24.39 to secure 10th place, 50m butterfly in 36.63sec, 50m backstroke in 35.83 sec to take fourth place and 50m freestyle in 31.26 sec to record 10th place.
The Cannons had a highly successful weekend and enjoyed catching up with past members Ivan Van Zyl, Erin Everingham and Evan and Charlotte Mitchell.
The Cannonvale Cannons resume club nights from this Wednesday night.
Old and new members are welcome to take part in club nights.
Warm up for club nights starts from 5pm and racing starts from 6pm.
