Carney career is down toilet after incident

CRONULLA has sacked star playmaker Todd Carney after an investigation into a photo which circulated on social media, purported to show the 28-year-old engaged in a vulgar incident in Sydney on Saturday night.

The image appeared to show the 2010 Dally M medallist urinating towards his mouth while standing at a urinal.

Just 24 hours earlier, Carney, already released by the Raiders and Roosters for indiscretions in his troubled career, had led the Sharks to an incredible come-from-behind 24-22 win against the Broncos in Brisbane.

Carney has twice been given suspended jail terms, and was stood down indefinitely by the Raiders in 2008 for allegedly urinating on a patron at a Canberra hotel.

He was also released by the Roosters in 2011 after a string of alcohol-related incidents.

Late yesterday the NRL supported Cronulla's decision to sack Carney.
