Caton wins stableford

WHITSUNDAY GOLF: Mick Caton defied 21 other players to win Sunday's single stableford at the Proserpine Golf Club.

Caton carded 33 points to win on a countback from Wayne Temby while Rod Wecker finished third.

The men's B-grade title went to Mal Hill with 32, on a countback from Mark McDougall and Mark Winter.

Anna Winterbourn took the women's title following a round of 34 points while Jacqui Wall (32) and Beryl Miller (29) finished second and third.

Longest drive prizes went to Wayne Temby (A-grade), Reg Kercher (B-grade), Anna Winterbourn (A-grade women) and Robyn Mills (B-grade women).

Nearest-the-pins went to Mick Caton (no. 9), Ron Jamieson (2), Geoff Harrison (16), Brad Hammond (2) and Mark McDougall (16).

This week Whitsunday Golf Club members will contest a two-ball ambrose at the Proserpine Golf Club on Sunday.
