Chester's social media friends buy him a "doggy" wheelchair

THE efforts of a social media group have helped deliver Ipswich kelpie Chester a life-changing boost.

Nine-month-old Chester was brought into the AWLQ Rehoming Centre in Ipswich over the Christmas period with deformities making walking impossible.

But within 30 minutes of putting the call out on AWL social media accounts, enough money was raised to purchase a wheelchair to help Chester's mobility.

AWLQ spokesperson Brooke Whitney says the AWLQ needed the funds for a specialised wheelchair to give Chester a new lease on life.

"The wheelchair Chester needs is from the United States and will help his mobility, allowing him to live more comfortably," Ms Whitney said.

"Chester is a cuddly and very loving dog and, once we have him fitted to his chair, will make someone a very loyal companion pet."

Staff from the Ipswich City Council Pound and AWLQ wanted to do all they could for Chester and are ecstatic to know he will now have a new chair to help him live a long life.

"We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the cost of Chester's chair," Ms Whitney said.
