THE region has rallied behind a family whose home was badly damaged in an alleged arson attack at the weekend.

Kelly Macgowan, her fiancé Dan Ayres and their three kids Drae, Jayde and two-week-old Ruby have been left with next to nothing after their Mt Kynoch rental property was badly damaged late Friday night.

Friends Amanda McGilvray and Sarah McGarry have done what they can, setting up an online fundraiser and drop-off points for donations from the community.

Despite putting the word out less than 48 hours ago, the duo have been heartened by the response.

"It's amazing the generosity of the community when such things happen," Ms McGilvray said.

"It has just been fantastic. We've organised a couple of drop-off points for donations around the area."

The family is in need of ladies clothing size 10-12 and size 7 shoes, mens clothing size medium and shoes sized 9-10, boys clothes size 10 and shoes size 3-4, girls clothes size 1, and baby clothing size 000.

Donation drop-off points have been set up at the Pioneer Arms at Goombungee, the Farmers Arms at Cabarlah, the Meringandan Pub at Meringandan, and the Blue Mountain Hotel in Toowoomba.

An online fundraiser has also been established to give the family some financial support.
