Clarke opens with Beer
AUSTRALIA cricket captain Michael Clarke spun a surprise on day two of the second Test against the West Indies in Trinidad.
Clarke opened the bowling with left-arm spinner Michael Beer and the move worked after Beer took a wicket as the hosts struggled to three for 49 in reply to Australia's 311 all-out.
Veteran Mike Hussey (73) top-scored for Australia and shared a valuable seventh-wicket partnership of 89 with James Pattinson (32) despite the efforts of paceman Kemar Roach (5-105) and off-spinner Shane Shillingford (3-92).
Hussey was eventually caught at mid-off after spooning an easy catch to Kraigg Braithwaite.
More than two hours of play was lost to rain on the second day.
