Classic cars enjoyed by everyone

CLASSIC cars from right across the last century delighted onlookers at the Esplanade in Airlie Beach on Sunday during the Whitsunday Lions Club Classic Car display.

Featuring over 40 vintage cars, the display was attended by over 1,500 people on Sunday and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

Ranging from the classic 1924 T-Model Ford, to the one-of-a-kind 1934 Wolseley and several muscle cars from the 1950s and 60s, the display had something to cater for all tastes and was a fantastic free outing for families on the weekend.

Event co-ordinator Geoff Smith said he couldn't be happier with how they event had gone and heard nothing but positive comments about the quality of cars on display.

"The quality and presentation of the cars on display was phenomenal and the response that we got from the public was fantastic. I think the size of the event surprised a lot of people and I received so many positive comments about the display," he said.

The event was offered free of charge to both visitors and exhibitors and Mr Smith another display will be held sometime around October or November this year.

"All the owners want are keen to come back again I'm sure our next display will be even bigger and better. The whole idea of the day was to put on a free event for families to come along and enjoy while helping give a boost to local retailers," he said.
