Classics and cuties to rev up crowds this weekend

A BEVY of beautiful women will be strutting their stuff in the Main Street of Airlie Beach on Saturday as part of the Revvin the Reef Car Show.

The second annual Fraser Ford 'Revvin The Reef' Car Show will see classic cars from all over the region descend on Airlie Beach for a day of throbbing engines and glistening chrome.

The Miss Pin-up Competition - at midday on the Main Stage - will see gorgeous girls dress up in their best '50s or '60s vintage attire and strut their stuff on the catwalk and the Proserpine Rock n' Roll Dancers will be performing on stage with the Cadillacs between 10am and 11am.

Hot Rods and "muscle cars" will also feature in the show, which will run from 10am to 3pm in the Airlie Beach Main Street.

Spectators can vote for their favourite car and the top 10 crowd-pleasers will then go into the Rotary Street Parade, at 4pm.

For the first time, the 'Revvin The Reef' Car Show will be followed by a Rock 'n' Roll dinner dance in the Reef Festival marquee on the foreshore, featuring local rock 'n roll band the Cadillacs.

Event organiser Rebecca Ross said it was a smorgasbord for car lovers and people who love everything vintage.

"Make sure you rock on up in your best '50s and '60s outfit and enter our Miss Pin-up Competition," she said.

"There will be music, a great atmosphere and you can vote for your favourite car."

The Rock n' Roll dinner dance promises to be a great evening in the marquee, overlooking the Coral Sea. Tickets cost $35 and are available on http://www.whitsundaytickets.com.au
