Close finish for two-ball ambrose

WHITSUNDAY GOLF: Just three strokes separated the top three Whitsunday golfers last Sunday in the two-ball ambrose.

The competition required each player to field at least six drives, meaning there couldn't be one dominate driver in the partnership.

Kym Hill and Ross Richards scored 64.5 to win the day from Ian Giles and David Hoy (66.75) and Mark McDougall and Rod Wecker (67.25).

The longest drives for the day went to Geoff Harrison (A-grade), Reg Kercher (B-grade), Tiina Randmae (A-grade ladies) and Tessa Aitken (B-grade ladies). Nearest-the-pins went to Geoff Harrison and Wilf Herweg (No. 2), Kym Hill and Ross Richards (9), Donny Hope and Ron Jamieson (13) and Tina Randmae and Mark Winter (16). This Sunday, the club will host a single stroke competition.

Meanwhile, the Kerry Hall Memorial President's Cup will start in mid-July.
