Clowning to support a good cause
YOU'RE invited to clown around for a good cause come September.
Banjo's Bar & Bistro is hosting a circus-themed fundraising for Proserpine Meals on Wheels, helping them continue their good work.
Owner Joanne Cutler encouraged one and all to roll up with their family and friends, have some fun and fundraise for a good cause.
"The event is going to be a lively and colourful affair with a jumping castle and face painting for the kids, local musician Jan Arns live from 6.30pm, two-for-one meals, auctions, raffles, prizes and a cake stall with freshly-baked treats," she said.
So it's time to dig out those polka-dot pants, face paint and, of course, a big red nose and get into the circus spirit.
"We're encouraging people to get creative with the circus theme and dress up in their fancy frocks and clown costumes," Ms Cutler said.
Proserpine Meals on Wheels has been delivering nutritious three-course hot and cold meals in the area since 1974, but this doesn't come without a cost.
Branch co-ordinator Helen Maynard-Taylor said donation tins would be scattered throughout the venue, asking people to chuck in their spare change.
"All proceeds raised on the day will go towards funding a new delivery vehicle, which will allow us to expand our service and start delivering meals to rural Proserpine, Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and surrounding areas," she said.
The service is open to people of all ages who are unable to prepare their own meals, ensuring they are properly fed.
Ms Maynard-Taylor thanked Banjo's Bar & Bistro for sticking their hand up to help out.
"We couldn't hold fundraising events such as this without the support of local businesses," she said.
This is your chance to show your support as well, so head on down for a night of fantastic fun for a good cause.
Large groups are encouraged to book a table to reserve their spot.
