Club to host dinner on world-famous beach

YOU don't need to own a boat to be a member of the Abell Point Yacht Club, but you do need to be a club member or at least a member's guest, to attend the inaugural White on White dinner on world-famous Whitehaven Beach.

Set for Saturday, October 24, this formal dinner on silica sand will include a delicious three course meal and wine, complete with white tablecloths and full service by Fish D'Vine.

And what to wear? White of course.

Fish D'Vine co-owner and APYC member Kevin Collins said the event would be a truly unique Whitsunday experience, with participants heading to Whitehaven under their own steam, whether that be power or sail.

"I do quite a few events on Whitehaven including the occasional dinner event but it's always been restricted to a very special few - if you haven't had a superyacht you couldn't do it, so this is an opportunity to do something experienced by only a privileged few," he said.

"To be there at night time when the moon comes up over the hill is just jaw-dropping - it's just the ultimate pop-up restaurant - just magical."

The dinner has limited spaces so those interested are advised to "get in quick".

Tickets cost $110 for members and $140 for guests.

APYC membership is $80 for the year and gives access to a series of on and off water events.
