Cold mornings and a chance of weekend rain forecast

IF you thought it felt a bit nippy this morning that's because it was.

The mercury dropped to an all-year low yesterday morning in Proserpine - the Bureau of Meteorology weather station at the Proserpine Airport recorded a low temperature of 6.7 degrees on Wednesday and this morning 10.6 degrees was recorded.

Hamilton Island also recorded the lowest temperature of the year on Wednesday morning but the gauge only fell to 15.4 degrees.

The outlook for the weekend is looking sunny for most of the lead in tomorrow but on Saturday and Sunday there's a chance of rain.

A 30% chance on both days of the weekend is being forecast by the BoM.

On the water the consistently gusty winds that have been experienced around the Whitsundays are likely to continue to blow from the SSE to ESE but are expected to wane from the strengths felt for most of the week.
