College open day brings in big crowd

Whitsunday Christian College certainly knows how to put on a fair - fireworks and petting zoo included.

Principal Nathan MacDonald said he was pleased to see the parents and students support the fete, along with visitors and prospective parents.

"It was a fantastic day. It was wonderful that the wider community enjoyed the showcase of what our school has to offer," he said.

Lip-syncing battles, carnival rides, a petting zoo and a silent auction kept attendees busy.

Performances by school bands and choirs were also a highlight for many proud parents and family members.

While the rides and music entertained the crowds, it was the grand finale that always leaves a lasting impression.

"The fireworks were great, and as usual were received very well by everyone," Mr MacDonald said.

The idea behind the fair is to allow current parents and students to have a night of fun while learning what Whitsunday Christian College has to offer.

"It's mainly to showcase the school. To provide a wonderful event for our families and friends," Mr MacDonald said.

The Open Day Fair was a result of some very hard work put in by the Parents and Friends committee, school staff and students.

"We would like to thank the Whitsunday community for their generous support for the college. It's a privilege to be part of it," Mr MacDonald said.

All the money raised at the fair will be put towards school facilities, events and upgrades.

"It was a fantastic day and it really was wonderful to share the fun with everyone," said Mr MacDonald.
