Colony Building Group working as hard as ever

ONE of the region's biggest building companies is turning 22, and what a journey it has been.

Colony Building Group is one of the longest-established building companies in the Whitsundays and the team is not about to rest on its laurels.

In the past 22 years, owner Clifford Hill has battled recessions, downtimes, extreme weather events and record interest rate hikes and he's managed to overcome them all.

Mr Hill believes the key to Colony's success has been to always keep one step ahead of what customers want. And having built more than 1200 houses in the area, it's clear he knows his stuff.

Surrounded by construction since he was six years old, MrHill followed in his father's footsteps and began his building career at the age of 16.

After facing a few financial issues, he conducted some extensive research and identified the Whitsundays as having enormous potential for growth.

"I fell in love with the Whitsundays and decided that this was where I wanted my future and business to be," he said.

The continued success of Colony Building Group is primarily due to Mr Hill's dedication to quality, exceptional value and personalised service.

"Our philosophy is to build the best quality home we can at a good price," he said.

Customer loyalty is a valuable part of the business, with some of Colony Building Group's customers having bought multiple homes.

"We build stylish houses and put a lot of thought into the floor plans and there is always scope for the owners to put their own mark on their new home through choosing their own finishes and fittings," Mr Hill said.

"We are constantly researching new trends and chatting to our customers about their likes and dislikes and I think this shows in the quality of our homes.

"We have also recently redesigned all our homes in line with current customers' tastes and have upgraded the finishes in all our houses."

As for the future of Colony Building Group, Mr Hill has big plans as he continues to develop land in the region.

To date, land developments have included Whitsunday Acres, Mount Whitsunday, Whitsunday Valley Views, Adelaide Point near Bowen and a subdivision at Hydeaway Bay.

Mr Hill also owns a site next to Whitsunday Plaza Shopping Centre, which already has a developmental approval.
