VIDEO: Gladstone man talks about impact of FIFO
JUST three people gave evidence to the committee set up to listen to our community's issues with FIFO workers.
When the Queensland Parliamentary Committee into 100% FIFO sat in Gladstone this afternoon they were welcomed by just seven people.
Three more arrived before the session finished ahead of time at 4.30pm.
There were no leaders from major industry or Gladstone Regional Council.
Resident Michael Pope was one of the people to give evidence.

He talked about the lack of opportunities for people in his age bracket, 40-50, wanting to transition from positions focused on physical labour and young people wanting apprenticeships.
He said the bigger companies, particularly those involved in the LNG project, had done the community a disservice by not opening permanent, large offices in central Queensland.
"Imagine office buildings full of those workers right here in town," Mr Pope said.
"That would have changed the whole outlook for young people in our town."
