Community comes forth for Master Plan
COMMUNITY consultation for the Proserpine Master Plan is well under way with Whitsunday Regional Council having a successful first consultation event last week.
On Friday, three representatives from Whitsunday Regional Council manned a display stall at the Quota Christmas Markets, just one day after consultation opened to the public.
Engagement and marketing co-ordinator at WRC, Joanne Hennessy, said although the number of locals who came forward was small, it was great to see interest shown.
"We've only done one consultation event and that night we had about six people (come to us),” she said.
"(Locals) were making their suggestions and giving us ideas that we can take back. We had a lot of people interested and had one person fill out a form (early in the night).”
Ms Hennessy said everyone took the Master Plan differently.
"We have some people talking about better direction signage down the main street,” she said.
"We have people talking about a possible RV spot or water park.”
Council will continue to host public forums and face-to-face meetings over the duration of the consultation.
The community consultation period began last Thursday, December 1 and will run until February 28, 2017.
