Community groups in showcase

ART Whitsunday, Zonta Club of Whitsundays, Whitsunday Hearing, Parent Action Group, ESA and Fauna Rescue are among the community groups who will be on show at the Whitsunday Shopping Centre today and tomorrow for the annual Community Showcase.

Whitsunday Shopping Centre marketing and administration assistant Amy Manning said the 2012 community showcase had drawn a positive response from stall holders with an increasing number of applications received in the final days leading up to the event.

"The showcase is an opportunity for local non-profit organisations to provide the community with information on what they do, increase membership, or hold a fundraiser for the organisation, or all of the above," she said.

"We currently have lots of interest as many enjoyed the event last year."

Ms Manning said as it was school holidays, exhibitors had been asked to provide a variety of activities for children, with some of these already confirmed.

"Fauna Rescue will be doing a colouring competition, Daydream Island will be bringing a touch tank and the ESA ladies usually have bubble blowing," she said.

The Community Showcase will be held in the central courtyard at the Shopping Centre today and tomorrow (Thursday, September 27-Friday, September 28) from 10am-2pm on both days. The event is free of charge for stall holders and members of the public to attend.
