Cop charged with computer misuse is back in court

A CALEN cop accused of computer misuse will have his case mentioned next week.

Senior Constable James Ian Hogg is charged with one count of using a restricted computer without consent.

It is alleged the offending occurred on June 6 this year at the Calen police station.

He is charged under section 408E of the Queensland Criminal code, which relates to computer hacking and misuse.

Anyone convicted of this offence faces a maximum penalty of two years jail.

Snr Constable Hogg is being investigated over allegations of unprofessional conduct and unauthorised access of confidential information.

He has been stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service and tasked to perform non-operation duties.

The case will be mentioned on November 16.
