Costo slams Rocky gold claim
WHITSUNDAY MP Jason Costigan has staked his region's claim on gold medallist Paralympic cycling champion David Nicholas, posting on Facebook about "disappointing” and "dodgy” media reports.
"Disappointed by dodgy media reports concerning Paralympic cycling champion David Nicholas,” he wrote on Facebook.
"Sure he was born in Rockhampton but the fact remains David lives, works and trains in Proserpine and is a proud member of the Mackay Cycling Club.
"That's right, Mackay and the Whitsundays can rightfully lay claim to our home-grown champion, but not Rockhampton.
"One of the worst offenders is the ABC, but then again, what have we come to expect from our taxpayer-funded national broadcaster?
"Especially ordinary with the sad news that legendary ABC commentator Norman 'Nugget' May has passed away.
"I wonder what he would say.”
