COUNCIL will tomorrow deliver a "restrained" budget according to Whitsunday Mayor Andrew Willcox.

Promising there will be "benefits to everyone across the region", Cr Willcox said he was looking forward to his first budget as mayor.

"It's going to be a restrained budget and there will be something in it for everybody," he said.

"We've extensively workshopped it and everybody had in put."

When asked if a restrained budget meant reining in spending, the mayor said this was not the case.

"No, in terms of we're not trying to get any crazy rate increase," he replied.

With rumours flying that the region's south can expect a larger rates increase than the north, Cr Willcox said rates would be set on property value.

"Whatever happens, if there's a $100,000 property in Collinsville (or) Bowen, it'll be paying the exact same rates as a $100,000 property in Airlie, Proserpine and Cannonvale," he said.

"But obviously if there's a $100,000 property in Bowen and there's a $200,000 property in Airlie Beach, then the $200,000 (property) is going to pay more than the $100,000 property.

"We have a rate so it's the same across the whole region; it has to deliver parity across the whole region."

Mayor Willcox said there would be money allocated for the Airlie Beach Foreshore revitalisation, "but its early days for that foreshore (project)".

The budget will also include funds for the proposed Proserpine Water Park, with the mayor saying he would also like to see the facilities at Peter Faust Dam developed for tourists.
