Council upgrade later this year

WHITSUNDAY Regional Council offices in Main Street, Proserpine, will be upgraded later this year.

The Council is in the the final stages of planning for the modifications which are expected to be finished in December.

Council has announced that local builder Brad Penhallurick has been awarded the building contract.

The upgrades to the current administration centre will result in a new council boardroom, training room, councillor's room and accessible toilet facilities.

The premises will also be home to the new Disaster Management Centre.

Mayor Mike Brunker believes that bringing the Proserpine Boardroom and Disaster Management Centre to the same headquarters will be very beneficial to the council in the future.

“It's a great step forward in uniting Council since the amalgamation,” Mr Brunker said.
