Council's postal address changes

IT WILL soon be simpler for Whitsunday residents to send invoices and payments via mail to Council.

From January 1 next year, Whitsunday Regional Council will be streamlining its mail processing by converting to its post office box address in Proserpine.

The move comes as a result of the consolidation of the Proserpine Administration Centre and the development of a sub-branch in the Bowen and Collinsville administration centres. From the start of next year, members of the public are encouraged to post all mail including correspondence, invoices and payments to the Proserpine Council Administration Centre (PO Box 104, Proserpine, QLD, 4800) rather than to Council's Bowen and Collinsville post office box addresses.

While these centres will have diverts in place , it is quicker to address the mail to Proserpine in the first place.

Mayor Mike Brunker said Council investigated the time frames for the delivery of mail between Collinsville, Bowen and Proserpine and found mail from Collinsville to Bowen, which currently takes two days, matches the time it takes to deliver between Collinsville and Proserpine.

“Postage direct to Proserpine is the preferred means to assist in streamlining the process, making our service to the community more efficient,” he said.
