Country girl goes for gold
BLOOMSBURY resident Demi Gerhart is in the running for Miss Country Girl Australia.
Miss Country Girl Australia is a national brand focused on regional areas across Australia.
The 17-year-old has entered the contest's online competition as the pageant won't be visiting the area on its national tour over the next few months.
She decided to enter as a testament to herself but said she was in it just to have fun.
Demi hopes to be an accountant one day and plans to start by studying at TAFE.
Miss Country Girl Australia event co-ordinator Jessica Bool said the competition gave contestants the opportunity to gain modelling contracts, agents and career opportunities.
"Here we provide life changing opportunities and experiences for country girls across the nation," she said.
There are four different categories - junior, senior, swimwear and career; which aims to provide girls with an insight into the 'behind the scenes' side of the fashion industry.
The crowned winner of each category will win a modelling portfolio, prize pack, and will be invited to represent their location at the Country Girl National Crowning Ceremony.
For now Demi patiently awaits the verdict of the online competition.
