Cowboys ride into town for pre-season camp
RUGBY League fans in the Whitsundays will have the chance to meet the entire North Queensland Cowboys squad when they hold a public training session at the Whitsunday Sports Park from 4pm this Wednesday (February 20).
After trips to Mt Isa and Cairns earlier in the pre-season the Cowboys will spend a few days in Airlie Beach training and bonding as a team before their final trial against the Gold Coast titans this weekend in Mackay.
All of the Cowboys big name players will be available and fans will be able to meet crowd favourites Jonathon Thurston, Matty Bowen and Matt Scott along with the rest of the team's top 25 players.
Coach Neil Henry said that the trip to Airlie was a good chance for the team to bond before the new season and set some goals.
"We've had the chance to come down to Airlie this week for a few days in the lead-up to our trial against the Titans in Mackay on the weekend. It's a good chance for the boys to get away and work on a few things before the season starts," he said.
"It's a good opportunity to get away and have a few meetings and set some goals for the year. A lot of our players haven't been to the Whitsundays before and it's a nice place of the world to train in."
