Crabs, barramundi and salmon abound
ROCKWALLS
Able Point Marina walls have been producing good numbers of queenfish and trevally with the odd small mackerel showing up. Using live herring or small chrome slugs in the 10 to 25gm size. Marine Club and Sailing Club wall have been producing grunter on the incoming tide using fresh peeled prawns or small live baits.
ISLANDS
Coral trout and sweetlips are on the chew for the bottom fisherman around the fringing reefs off all islands. Best baits being pilchards and dead or live herring. Some very big mackeral and giant trevally have been caught using live skad around Double Rock and Mackerel Bay. GTs will also take large poppers working the drop off of the fringing island reefs.
REEF
Anglers who ventured out to the reef during the past week enjoyed catches of red emperor and red throat in good numbers. Coral trout were also on the bite in the shallows, spanish mackerel were caught but not in great numbers or size.
RIVER & CREEKS
Mud crabs have been found to be around the mouths or near the mouths in good numbers. Blue salmon are also about the mouths in good numbers with the odd threadfin also showing up. These fish will be feeding on the prawns moving out of the rivers and creeks which have grown size and numbers over the past weeks. Tides are not too favourable for this weekend but fishing the slack water at the turn of the tide might produce some good catches.
DAM
Flow into the dam has now slowed to nothing so things should start to settle, look for the warmer water holding bait fish, and work these areas well for your barramundi. The average size of fish reported are about 60 to 80cm in length. The bigger fish will hopefully come out soon.

DAM
The fishing has slowed recently but there are patches of small barramundi throughout the timber. Most of the larger fish have been caught on the trawl.
In the calmer waters it's still worth a try casting shallow diving and surface lures over the freshly flooded areas.
As the weed and grass starts to decay, the fish will be found more along deeper edges and in the creek line.
The red claw are on the move so it's a good opportunity to set some pots overnight.
PROSERPINE RIVER
During the larger tides last weekend there were heaps of crabs.
There should be some barramundi and salmon starting to show during the smaller tides this week.
Live baiting with mullet and prawn or trawling deeper diving lures should get you on to a fish.
