Cracking fireworks to welcome new year
THE upcoming New Year fireworks will be better than ever.
Reef festival committee chairperson Margie Murphy said fireworks will be set off at the Whitsunday Sailing Club point, expected to provide perfect viewing opportunities from the foreshore and local accommodation.
Previously fire works came from the Airlie carpark, near the foreshore.
While confirmation is yet to be received, Mrs Murphy hopes both a 9pm fire works show and midnight display will be on the cards.
Mrs Murphy called for local businesses and organisations to offer support to make the New Year's Eve party one to remember.
"It is always the same people who sponsor our events and understand what they mean to town and tourism,” she said.
We are looking for all tourism, retail and hospitality businesses and all the businesses that benefit from the night to get behind us.
"It's a good celebration of a good year and the pick up of the tourism industry in town.”
Margie thanked Whitsunday Regional Council and Whitsunday Transit for their support.
