Cracking weekend weather predicted
WITH the rain seemingly over for now, early weather predictions are that the Whitsundays is in for a treat this weekend with blue skies and mild conditions.
A spokesperson for the Bureau of Meteorology went so far as to say the Whitsundays would be "probably the pick of the locations on the central cost this weekend".
A slight chance of rain on Thursday is expected to be followed by early morning fog on Friday and Saturday but blue skies are predicted for most the day.
"Once the fogs lifts in the morning we can expect lovely blue skies," the spokesperson said.
Temperatures are expected to stay fairly cool with maximums between 23C and 25C and overnight minimums only reaching 20C.
For those on the water, there will be light winds and fairly mild conditions. On Saturday there will be light south-easterly winds shifting to north-easterly in the afternoon. On Sunday there will be south-easterly to easterly winds in the late afternoon and evening.
The BOM spokesperson said the rain should be largely over by now and the Whitsundays can expect "quite a cracking weekend".
