Craft exhibition a hit in Proserpine
A STRONG crowd of more than 350 people have attended the ESA's annual arts and craft exhibition at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre at the weekend.
The two-day event proved a hit with the community, with the local Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) club hosting its 17th exhibition.
ESA member Grace Hurst said the demonstration was a huge success, and praised the region's involvement.
"They were very happy. Usually we get repeats but we had new ones this time," she said.
"Originally it was invented to allow local people, other than painters, to display their craft...they could also sell it if they wished."
There were 25 stalls, with holders hailing from various locations including Maryborough, Ayr and Bowen.
The stalls offered jewellery and handicrafts and there were several workshops for those interested in creating their own pieces. Proserpine's ESA branch is now looking forward to several other initiatives, including a linen hamper which goes toward local charities, Daffodil Day, Pink Ribbon Day and Girl's Night In.
The club meets every second Wednesday and hosts a social gathering every fourth Wednesday, which ranges from educational sessions to member's demonstrations or excursions to other exhibitions.
