Crazy goals tally in a win

SOCCER: The Whitsunday FC Premier Men had a day to remember on Saturday as they smashed 11 goals in Mackay.

Whitsunday were too good for the Mackay Crusaders in an 11-1 win.

After a sluggish start, they scored their first goal early in the first half and dominated for the rest of the match.

Going into the break 6-nil up, the game was already over.

Ben McLoughlin, Owen Hodgen and Ryan Lee all claimed goals with Lee a stand out on the day.

The Crusaders were able to find the back of the net despite calls for offside and they were given another chance with a penalty but they sprayed it wide.

Whitsunday FC captain Jayden Tween said there was still room for improvement.

"The team didn't play as well as we can and need to work on some things at training," he said.

"I definitely believe with the players and depth we have in the squad, we are more than capable of winning it this year.

"Everyone is playing for their spot in the team and the guys coming up from reserves are making their mark and showing everyone that they deserve a place in the starting 11."

A few players are battling a few niggles and injuries at the moment as well." 

The MCL Men's team played out a hard fought 3-all draw on Saturday against West United. 

The Whitsunday Ladies lost 3-2 in another tough match.

They could only field a starting side and with no reserves, it proved to be too hard a task.
