Cutters beat Warriors in rain-affected play

SATURDAY's  game was played despite some terrible conditions for cricket, with players voting for a shortened game in the wet weather.

The Cane Cutters elected to bat first and got off to good start with openers Liam Davies (36) and Zach Read (24) putting 66 runs together.

This was before H. McDonald (2 for 37) made the breakthrough.

A few quick wickets from M. Hansen (2 for 28) looked to stifle the Cutters' early start, but middle-order hitting from Cory Lucht (42) picked up the tempo. This allowed the Cutters to amass 176 off the rain-affected 22 overs.

Bryce Fraser (38) was the only Warriors batsman to bother the scorers as Luke Read (4 for 30) ran through the order to have them all out for 80.

This Sunday will see Proserpine send a team to Bowen to challenge for the Woods Cup.

This means there will be no game at the Proserpine Cricket Ground on Saturday.

The next local match-up will see Warriors take on Valleys on February 27.
