Cyclist fighting for life after colliding with bush turkey

A CYCLIST who collided with a bush turkey on the Gold Coast early this morning is fighting for his life. 

The man, 45, was riding down Tomewin Mountain Rd, Currumbin Valley, about 6.20am when his race bike struck the bird. 

He was seriously injured in the crash, in which he was thrown from the bike, landing a considerable distance away. 

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and he remains there in a critical condition.
