Cyclist run down by motorist on Sunshine Coast

UPDATE: FORMER Australian Idol host Osher Gunsberg (or Andrew G as he was known) has gotten behind the call to find a motorist who ran down a cyclist on the Sunshine Coast.

Osher tweeted to his 19,000 followers hoping someone had information on the incident.

BREAKING: The hunt is on today for a motorist who allegedly ran down a cyclist leaving them in hospital with serious injuries.

The cyclist known only as Gail was reportedly taken to hospital "pretty badly banged up" with a "broken hand" and "in need of a load of stitches" after she was hit while riding her bike on Diddillibah Road at 7.25am on Sunday morning.

It's alleged that she was hit by a motorist driving a grey, dual cab Toyota Hilux who "raced off" down Clarks Road without stopping to check if she was okay.

A QAS media spokeswoman confirmed that ambulance officers attended the incident and Gail was transported to Nambour Hospital.

It's believed one witness has given a detailed description of the vehicle and driver to police, however a post which has been shared more than 100 times on Facebook is asking for potential other witnesses to also come forward to police.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
