Daniel Morcombe inquest will reopen in December

THE inquest into Daniel Morcombe's disappearance and death in 2003 will reopen for two days in December, AAP reports.

An inquest into the Sunshine Coast schoolboy's death was adjourned before Brett Peter Cowan was arrested. Cowan was later charged and sentenced to life in prison for abducting and murdering Daniel.

Bruce and Denise Morcombe's lawyer, Peter Boyce, told ABC radio the couple wants the coroner to examine some aspects of the police investigation.

With the 12th annual Day for Daniel coming up on Friday, Bruce and Denise will spend this week educating hundreds of children on recognising danger and how to react if they're faced with a scary situation.

"It's a huge day, but we're enormously proud of the community that stood tall and said: 'Let's do something'," Bruce Morcombe said during a visit to Mooloolaba State School on Monday.

This year Senator Derryn Hinch will join in on the walk from Woombye to Palmwoods, along with an expected 1500 Sunshine Coast residents.
