UPDATE: Did you hear a boom?

UPDATE: 4.30pm 

THE mystery of the Cannonvale "boom" continues with all three emergency services saying they had not been contacted about the alleged incident. 

The Whitsundays Times has spoken with residents in the area and employees at both the nearby Reef Gateway Hotel and the Endeavour Foundation, however no new information has been confirmed. 

On Facebook, a number of locals have shared their opinions and observations. 

"I live in Abell rd and didn't hear anything!" Kara Trippett wrote. 

Jo N Shane McGregor wrote that it was "no where near Abell Road... Behind milk depot". 

The Whitsunday Times has also spoken with milk depot employees, who said they had not heard or seen anything matching the alleged incident. 

Clinton Philip Rule said he saw it "behind the hill at Parker Road" and it looked "to be towards milk depot". 

"And literally was only a big black cloud for no more than two or three minutes," he wrote. 

As yet no new information has come to like, with the Whitsunday Times asking for any information or eye-witness reports to be sent to editor@whitsundaytimes.com.au.

DID you hear a boom or see smoke in the vicinity of Abell Rd, Cannonvale, at around 10.30am today? 

The Whitsunday Times has received reports of what sounded like an "explosion" in the area, with one local supplying a photograph of the smoke plume. 

However, Whitsunday Police have not been contacted about the alleged incident and were unable to provide any information.
