Dirt Riders to host championships

PROSERPINE'S Dray's Park will host the BFB Scaffolding Queensland Senior and Junior Long Track and Dirt Track Championships later this month.

The three-day event is significant for a number of reasons, but will also see a host of star riders grace the Whitsunday Dirt Riders' turf.

The event, which will take place from September 26-28, has taken registrations from Sydney and all over Queensland, including big names like Luke Burgess and Jace Castles (Australian and Queensland champion) as well as local guns Georgia Murray and Hunter Penhallurick.

Georgia, a well known rider throughout the Whitsundays, will be riding in a series of female classes while Hunter will defend his junior 64 class titles.

Whitsunday Dirt Riders' secretary Linda Penhallurick said the championships would be a significant event.

"This will be the first time that Motorcycling Queensland has awarded two championships in the one place," she said.
